Happy Halloween to Thanksgiving season — ahem — aka, massive calorie consumption season, high sugar season, and downward spiral to the holidays season.  Whatever you want to call it, or however you want to justify it, when sun goes down early and temps drop significantly, mammals tend to hibernate more and seek out comforting foods.
