10 Essential Items I Always Keep In My Gym Bag

What I carry in my gym bag is about as important as the necessities I keep in my car.  If you ever had your car stolen or broken into, you realize how many important little things you keep in there.  Same with my gym bag.  What I tote around with me are absolutely essential!

So what’s in my gym bag?

Aside from the usual:  extra socks, jog bra and panties, here’s what I’m packing…

1).  First of all, the gym bag itself.  I love a gym bag with compartments.  I need to separate wet from dry, rather than putting my wet, sweaty clothes in a plastic bag.  This Under Armor bag has all the compartments I need.  A separate zippered compartment in the front, 2 side compartments (for my wet stuff) and a little one on the inside for small items like hair bands, keys and earphones.

2).  I keep an extra stash of supplements for a workout boost.  I use Burn instead of coffee before and during my workout to prevent fatigue and a Con-cret creatine in capsule form for any workout involving HIIT intervals or strength training.

3).  I always keep a few loop bands on hand. Gyms can’t keep them in stock.  They always seem to get “lost”  (ahem… stolen) or they break after a while.  So it’s best to just carry your own.   These innocuous little bands pack quite the burn.  They’re so versatile if you have a good repertoire of exercises to do with them.  I have a few tutorial videos on my YouTube channel if you need some ideas.  You can pick up a set of 3 bands (light, medium and heavy resistance) for $9.99 here. They are absolutely indispensable for working the hard to activate muscles that often get overlooked.


4).  A good Jump Rope. It’s light, portable, takes up almost no space and when you only have 5 or 10 min. for cardio, you can get a kick ass workout.  They’re great for alternating with weight training when I’m doing circuits or intervals.  This one also comes in fun colors.

6).  Korean’s are known for taking great care of their skin.  I decided to experiment with a popular Korean brand of masks.  When I have extra time to lounge in the gym’s spa, I keep some packs of Dr. Jart+ sheet masks in my bag.  My favorite is the Jart+ Dermask Intra Jet Wrinkless Solution Pack.  In about 20 minutes, my skin looks noticeably firmer and extra hydrated.  After I peel off the mask, I rub in the remaining liquid.  If you’re not sure which mask is best for your skin, you can get a combo pack like this one that has 5 different sheet masks you can try:  Clearing Solution, Brightening, Porecting, Wrinkles, and Firming Solution Face Sheet Masks.

7).  When I workout at the end of the day, I use a Vitamin C Serum before I put on my night cream.  I like this one by TruSkin Naturals because it also contains vitamin E and hyaluronic acid.


8).  One more imperative item I use twice a day is under eye cream.  I’ve been using Clinique Repair Wear Laser Focus Wrinkle Correcting Eye Cream for a couple of years now.  I find it has the perfect consistency, not too thick or too greasy.


9).  What’s that smell??  It’s not me.  Funky smells are to be expected occasionally around a gym.  But they sure won’t be coming from my armpits!  An absolute must in my bag is my favorite anti-perspirant/deodorant. I love Dove Ultimate go fresh Cool Essentials. I buy these in a multi-pack.  It’s a perfectly mild smell of freshness for people who workout.


10).  Finally, I always carry a little pain relief in roll-on form in my gym bag.  This is truly a gym bag essential!  I use theMedZone PainZone Roll-on Pain Relief with Menthol and Aloe Vera. It works for every part of the body.  Knees, shoulders, hips, spasms in my lower back and neck… wherever I have a little arthritis brewing.
